August 2018 Walk/Ride Day Newsletter

Hello Green Streets friends!
Friday, August 31 is Walk/Ride Day! No matter your transportation style, make sure to check-in your commute any day from Monday, August 20 through the following Tuesday, September 4 to enter the raffle & redeem retail rewards. (You can always check-in again to modify; the last version is the one that is recorded!)
August Walk/Ride Day Theme: Water Travel
For coastal communities, commuting by ferry may be a feasible option. Residents of Hingham who work near downtown Boston rave about their commute on the Hingham Ferry. For the rest of us, we can take advantage of water transportation to explore the Harbor Islands or Cape Cod for a weekend excursion. Water transportation may become an option for more of us in the future as the state explores adding new ferry routes. Boston Harbor Now, a Boston nonprofit, is playing a big role in improving and expanding ferry service. Check out the improvements they have already made this summer here and the potential new ferry routes under consideration here. Even if water transportation isn't a feasible commuting option today, consider going out for a paddle, sail, or ferry ride! Being near water brings great psychological benefits.
