Take the Train for a Bike Tour of the South Coast

The South Coast Bikeway Alliance has arranged a special bicycle car with the MBTA for this one: ride Train #7009 from South Station at 8:20 AM (or board at any stop south of it) to New Bedford, the last stop. The bicycle car holds 50 bikes. Alliance volunteers meet the train at the Whale's Tooth Parking Lot at 10:02 AM, and the ride rolls at 10:15. Riding in from nearby? Meet at the lot at 10:00 AM. Explore the South Coast Bikeway and local roads with local guides, or follow the self-guided maps and GPS routes, from 16 miles to 53 and up. Expect scenic views, some history, and local food spots along the way, or bring a picnic. The group gathers at Cisco NB Beer Garden before heading back. Return on Train #7034 at 3:20 PM to Boston, with the same bicycle car. Bring your own bike, helmet, and water bottle, plus money for treats. Free; RSVP so the Alliance knows how many riders to expect.
