NSRWA Walking Club – Hoyt-Hall Preserve in Marshfield

Saturday, November 14

10:00-11:30 am

Join Walking Club Coordinator Steve French and Guest Host Roger Widden as we explore Hoyt-Hall Preserve in Marshfield on Saturday November 14 from 10:00-11:30. Roger is a Marshfield resident who owns and operates the Whidden School of Fitness, which focuses on martial arts. He is a long-time member of the Marshfield Trails Committee and knows much of the history behind the acquisition of the conservation areas. He is also an avid outdoorsman, an experienced Appalachian Trail guide and community instructor in Marshfield.

Hoyt-Hall Preserve is owned and maintained by Wildlands Trust. The Preserve encompasses 123-acres around Long Tom Pond and abuts another 61-acres of Marshfield conservation land along with 18-acres of Historic Winslow House Association land. The main trail loop is 1.7 miles through mixed upland forest and freshwater wetlands. There are spur trails that connect to the Winslow House property and to the former Old Colony Railroad bed.

The walk is over woodland paths with uneven stretches, moderate hills and elevation changes. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended.
