MBTA Fall Rail Ride

A special Commuter Rail train takes you from North Station to Newburyport and back. Bring your bike for a guided rail trail ride, or come without one and spend the afternoon in downtown Newburyport. The train leaves North Station at 11:00 AM and gets to Newburyport at noon. The return train leaves Newburyport at 4:00 PM and gets back to North Station at 5:00 PM. There is a cafe car with snacks and drinks. Bike riders choose a 15-mile loop on North Shore rail trails through Salisbury and Amesbury (about 2 hours, mostly flat), or a family loop of under 5 miles on trails in Newburyport (about 45 minutes). Regular bikes only: no tandems, trailers, or tires wider than 3 inches. Tickets are $20 round trip and go on sale Monday, October 19 at 11 AM, only in the MBTA mTicket app for iPhone and Android. There are only 75 bike tickets. Your ticket also works on any Commuter Rail train all weekend. Kids on a lap or in a stroller ride free.
