Somerville Community Path

The Somerville Community Path is a 3.2-mile paved path from the Cambridge line near Davis Square to Cambridge Crossing by Lechmere station. It runs next to the Green Line for most of the way, so it is an easy way to walk or bike across Somerville and get to the trains.

  1. Cambridge-Somerville city line (Mass Ave and Cameron Ave area)

    West end. Alewife Linear Park to the west is closed for a rebuild until the end of 2026. Use the Thorndike St detour.

    The path crosses the square on plazas and at street crossings.

  4. Lowell Street (Magoun Square station)

    The 1985 path ends here and the 2023 Green Line Extension path begins.

    The station is right next to the path.

    Path lights run from Walnut Street to Poplar Street, on both sides of the station.

  7. Cambridge Crossing, near Lechmere station

    East end, at Water Street in the Cambridge Crossing area, about 175 m from Lechmere station.

    Lechmere (Green Line D and E). Buses 69, 80, 87 and 88.

The Red Line stops at Davis. The Green Line E branch runs next to the path, with stops at Magoun Square, Gilman Square, East Somerville and Lechmere. Lechmere also has the D branch.

Paved, mostly asphalt. Paving stones through the Davis Square plazas. In Davis Square the route runs across plazas and street crossings.

Somerville clears the path all winter. Parts can close for a short time in big storms; Somerville 311 has the latest. 来源，2025-26 season
